There has been no abatement to the onslaught of this deadly virus and no sign of a way out any time soon.  While the suffering and grief continue and we learn to adapt to our changed circumstances, working out how to live so differently, every day we bear witness to incredible acts of selflessness, bravery and determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People we didn&#8217;t realise we rely on, people we have taken for granted for far too long:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health care professionals &#8211; doctors and nurses; hospital support staff; the carers; the educators; sanitation, postal &amp; delivery workers; food providers&#8230; The list goes on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every Thursday at 8pm, emerging briefly from our places of self-isolation, as a nation together, we thank the NHS for everything it has done, everything it does and everything it will continue to do in the face of huge adversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also thank everyone of you, the ones who really keep our country running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center special-verse-text-block\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Thank the Heroes<\/span>\n\nAnother day in isolation\nAt home with loved ones or alone\nOur main form of communication\nIs now the internet or phone\nVital technological lifelines\nBridge the distance we all now feel\nAllowing much needed contact time\nAnd the chances to keep it real\nNot just talk but to see each other\nFace to face though so far apart\nOn the front line or under cover\nWe were together from the start\nAll through this pandemic\u2019s destruction\nThe majority does its best\nHeroes rise to meet the infection\nFighting it daily without rest\nPeople coming from all walks of life\nPulling towards the common goal\nHelping others in desperate plight\nBy taking on amazing roles\nPutting at risk their very own lives\nDespite the lack of PPE\nCaring enough to help us survive\nEverybody, you and me\nSo, we clap our hands \u2013 we owe so much\nTo people we might never know\nIt is amazing that there are such\nAnd it is to them our thanks go\nThank you for being amazing souls\nThank you for all the things you do\nWe thank you as one and as a whole\nLife\u2019s for living because of you.\n\n\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravellingmonkeys.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Rainbow.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-820\" width=\"256\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetravellingmonkeys.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Rainbow.jpg 729w, https:\/\/www.thetravellingmonkeys.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Rainbow-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thetravellingmonkeys.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Rainbow-500x250.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The weeks pass and we are still in lockdown.
